Cow and Rice Banks: Non-Cash Lending in Battambang, Cambodia

Please join us for Kenneth Kitahata's In-Asia Grant Presentation, "Cow and Rice Banks: Non-Cash Lending in Battambang, Cambodia" this Friday, March 1st at 4:30 in Peters 129. To promote income security among rural Cambodia's elderly populations, HelpAge Cambodia has developed Cow and Rice Banks. These collective holdings of rice and cows are an informal safety net for aging communities. Kitahata will take a storytelling approach to discuss the impacts of the Cow and Rice Banks among current and recent program beneficiaries.

February 28th-March 2nd, as part of the "Public Intellectuals in a Changing World" Symposium organized by the Oberlin Center for Languages and Cultures (OCLC), join the film directors in the Chinese Independent FIlm Series: Oral History, Memory, and Advocacy for Social Change. In-Asia Grant Pangalay Dance Community Workshop and Lecture

Please join us for a Pangalay Dance Community Workshop & Lecture on Tuesday February 26th at 4:30 pm in Warner Dance Studio. The event will be led by Kara Nepomuceno OC '20 who received an In-Asia Grant from Oberlin Shansi this Winter Term. With the grant, Nepomuceno studied Pangalay dance in the Philippines with AlumAlum Dance Circle and sought to further understand nationhood and belonging. In this lecture and dance workshop, which is open to all ages and abilities, she will share her experiences.

Aceh Indonesia Fellowship Info Session

Join us for an Info Session on our Aceh Indonesia Fellowship this Wednesday February 20th at 4:30 in Wilder 101. Graduating seniors and alumni who graduated in 2016, 2017, and 2018 can apply, but anyone who is interested in learning more about our fellowships is welcome at the Info Session. Applications are due March 8th and language training for the fellowship will begin the summer of 2019. We'll also have snacks to share at the Info Session!
