Colby Fortin OC ‘22

Colby Fortin (she/her) ‘22 is a Comparative American Studies (CAS) and Politics major from the Adirondack of New York. At Oberlin, she served as a PRSM Trainer, Peer Advising Leader, and OSCA Sexual Health Information Liaison, cultivating her love for community education. Additionally, internships through the Ohio Center for Relationships and Sexual Health and the Department of Social Services have given her a passion for mental health community services. These passions led her to become a licensed crisis counselor at Bay Area Women Against Rape. She has applied her interest in community education and gender-based health through conducting CAS Honors research studying zines, mini-magazines, discussing gender-based violence from the 1990s to today. She is a Jerome Davis and Jere Bruner scholarship recipient, which has critically furthered her research. Colby is inspired by global anti-gender-based violence advocacy and hopes to gain cross-cultural communication and linguistic skills through her Shansi experience.
