Volunteer with Shansi

Volunteers are central to Shansi’s success. We rely on our volunteers to review Fellowship applications, provide mentorship to Fellows and grantees, present at online and in-person events, offer guidance on operations, fundraising, strategic planning, and more. From the days of student committee leadership to our current mentors and trustees, volunteers shape Shansi.

We welcome alumni and community friends to support our mission through the following volunteer roles:

  • Country Committees: Country Committees evaluate applications for Fellowships and offer guidance on local programs in each of Shansi’s core operating countries - China, India, Indonesia, and Japan.

  • Advisors: Shansi’s standing committees of the Board of Trustees depend on expertise from advisory members. This includes the Audit, Finance, and Development Committees.

  • Alumni Mentorship Program: Mentors offer current Fellows and recent Fellowship alumni career guidance, networking and skills building opportunities, and other types of support.

  • Connection Support: Volunteers can host gatherings in-person and online, serve as speakers, assist in coordinating events, and supporting general outreach.
