Syiah Kuala University, Indonesia (2022-24)

Jack Stevens (he/him) ‘22 is an Economics major. He has had an Oberlin experience that reflects his love of learning and his interest in business. On campus, he has worked as a research assistant, and has taught in the Experimental College—he created the Ursula K. Le Guin ExCo and led it for its inaugural year. When not engaged in campus activity he was on Bailey Field as a midfielder for Oberlin’s Varsity Men’s Lacrosse team. Jack has pursued professional opportunities off campus. He has worked numerous jobs in the customer service industry and has interned as a market research analyst at Takeda Pharmaceutical’s US franchise. During his final years at Oberlin he worked part-time for Taika, a canned coffee and tea start-up, as a marketing and customer experience associate. Jack is excited that Shansi will help him continue his development as a teacher. Outside the classroom, he plans to explore Indonesia’s coffee scene and learn about the coffee supply chain, and wants to work with local entrepreneurs as a consultant.
