Global Service and Social Impact: Nonprofit Internship in Shanghai

Over Winter Term 2026, Charles traveled to Shanghai, China, to work with Learners Without Borders, a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing educational inequality across East Asia. Shanghai, being one of China’s most multifaceted and diverse cities, provides a unique setting for non-profit work and learning experience. 

During his time there, Charles assisted with donation drives, collaborated with local and regional business leaders, and helped facilitate workshops promoting digital literacy and equitable access to online learning. He also engaged directly with local communities to better understand the challenges and opportunities surrounding education in China. Through this project, Charles aimed to contribute meaningfully to community based initiatives while deepening his understanding of social service work and educational access in Mainland China.
