Winter Term 2026

Women, Work, and Community

During Winter Term 2026, Chhavi spent time in Udaipur, in the western state of Rajasthan in India, working with Seva Mandir, a grassroots organization focused on women’s empowerment and community development. Chhavi’s project explored how NGOs in rural India strengthen local livelihoods and expand women’s participation in economic and public life through education, healthcare, self-help groups, and skill development initiatives. She observed community meetings, engaged with members and field coordinators, visited Seva Mandir’s schools, hospitals, and vocational training centers, and learned about the organization’s programs and priorities. She also supported women in accessing educational opportunities and participated directly in community-based development projects.
